How to Write AI Prompts That Actually Work (The BRIEF Framework)

Videos
Stop treating AI like a search engine. That’s why your results are generic. If you want better outputs, stop asking and start briefing.

THE BRIEF FRAMEWORK (5-Part Structure):
B = BACKGROUND: What situation are we in? Set the context.
R = ROLE: Who should the AI act like? Define expertise.
I = INSTRUCTIONS: What exactly should it do? Be specific about the task.
E = EXPECTATIONS: What should the result accomplish? State the goal.
F = FORMAT: How should the output look? Define structure.

BEFORE VS AFTER EXAMPLE:

GENERIC: “Write a blog”
BRIEFED: “We’re a B2B SaaS company (Background). You’re a content marketer (Role). Create an outline (Instruction). Goal is education (Expectation). Five numbered sections (Format).”

THE DIFFERENCE: The AI is now primed with context, expertise, clear task, purpose, and structure. Output becomes exponentially more useful.

THE SHIFT: Treating AI like a colleague you’re briefing instead of a search engine you’re querying changes everything. More context = better results.
One framework. Five parts. 10X better prompts.

Save this for next time you’re prompting AI!
